Introduction
If you have your heart set on running Princess Weekend, we need to talk about registration day — because runDisney registration is not casual.
It is stressful.
It is fast.
And sometimes it feels completely random.
The good news? You do NOT need to panic. You just need a plan.
Here’s how to survive runDisney registration day without completely losing your mind — especially if you are trying to register for Princess Weekend.
—
Know the Registration Date BEFORE Everyone Else Starts Talking About It
Princess Weekend registration happens months before race weekend, and some races can sell out incredibly fast.
Do NOT rely on social media reminders.
Instead:
* Add registration day to your calendar
* Set multiple alarms
* Create a reminder the night before
* Be sitting at your computer EARLY
For 2027 Princess Weekend, general registration opens June 2, 2026 at 10 AM ET.
My personal recommendation:
Set TWO alarms:
* One for “get ready”
* One for “sit down NOW”
Trust me on this.
—
Log Into Your runDisney Account Early
Do not wait until 9:59 AM.
Seriously.
Log into your account at least 20–30 minutes early and make sure:
* Your password works
* Your payment method is updated
* Your browser is working
* Your internet is stable
runDisney uses a virtual waiting room system similar to other Disney online queues. Once the queue opens, placement is random.
—
Princess Weekend Registration Is Different
Princess Weekend is one of the MOST popular runDisney weekends all year.
Why?
* First-time runners love it
* The costumes are incredible
* Friend groups travel together
* Many women choose this as their first half marathon
* The medals are usually gorgeous
Because of that, races can disappear FAST.
Usually the quickest to sell out:
* Princess 5K
* Fairy Tale Challenge
*10K and the Half Marathon
If you have one specific race you absolutely want, prioritize THAT race first.
—
Multiple Devices Can Help (But They’re Not Magic)
Many runners use:
* A laptop
* A phone
* An iPad or tablet
* Different browsers
Sometimes one device gets a much better queue placement than another.
I’ve personally had:
* Computer → “More than an hour”
* Phone → “More than an hour”
* iPad → 20 minutes
It truly feels random sometimes.
Important:
Once you are in the waiting room:DO NOT refresh unless something completely crashes.
runDisney literally warns against refreshing do not refresh your browser.
—
Decide What You Want BEFORE Registration Opens
This is NOT the time to debate your life choices.
Know ahead of time:
* Which race you want most
* Whether you want the Challenge
* Your budget limit
* Whether you are willing to switch races if something sells out
Once you get through the queue, move FAST.
Races can disappear while they are sitting in your cart. Yes, really. I’ve made it all the way to getting my credit card info in and its gone.
—
Have Your Information Ready to Copy and Paste
Anything that saves time helps.
Have a document ready with:
* Address
* Phone number
* Emergency contact
* Payment info
* Email address
The faster you move, the better your chances.
—
Register Yourself FIRST
This surprises a lot of people.
Adding multiple runners takes longer, and races can absolutely sell out while entering additional information.
Many experienced runDisney runners recommend:
* Everyone registers themselves separately
OR
* Secure your own bib first, then go back for others
It may not feel ideal, but registration day is survival mode.
—
Don’t Panic When the Queue Says “More Than an Hour”
This is emotionally the hardest part.
You may see:
* “More than an hour”
* Frozen progress bars
* Weird countdown jumps
And then suddenly…
you’re in.
The queue can move VERY quickly once races start selling out.
During one of my successful registrations, my estimated wait suddenly dropped from 28 minutes to 4 minutes almost instantly.
So:
* Don’t close the browser
* Don’t panic
* Don’t assume you’re out yet
—
If You Don’t Get In, It’s NOT Necessarily Over
This is important.
Sold out does not always mean permanently gone.
Sometimes:
* Spots reopen later
* Payment plans fail
* Cart holds expire
* Charity bibs become available
This is how many runners eventually get into:
* Princess Challenge
* Dopey
* Completely sold-out weekends
If registration goes badly:
* Join charity waitlists
* Watch runDisney groups
* Follow registration updates
* Keep checking
Do not give up immediately.
—
Want to Avoid Registration Day Stress Completely?
There are really two ways to reduce the chaos.
Option 1: Run With a Charity
Many charities receive bibs BEFORE general registration opens.
The earlier you contact them, the better your chances.
Popular charity bibs can also fill quickly, especially for Princess Weekend and Dopey. They are often filled before registration so don’t wait on this one!
—
Option 2: Club runDisney
Club runDisney offers membership tiers with benefits like:
* Early registration access
* Guaranteed race registration at higher levels
* Special merchandise and perks
But there’s a catch:
* It can be expensive
* Memberships sell out too
In 2026, when it opened to the general public:
* Platinum sold out before public sales
* Gold sold out in minutes
* Silver sold out quickly as well
So while Club runDisney can help, it is definitely not a guaranteed easy button.
—
The Emotional Reality Nobody Talks About
Registration day can feel weirdly personal.
You can do EVERYTHING right and still not get in.
That does NOT mean:
* You failed
* You are not fast enough
* You are not a “real runner”
Sometimes it honestly comes down to:
* Queue placement
* Timing
* Luck
* Internet chaos
That’s the frustrating reality of modern runDisney registration.
—
Conclusion
Princess Weekend registration is stressful.
But once you understand how it works, it becomes much easier to manage.
The biggest things that help:
* Prepare early
* Know your priority race
* Stay calm
* Move quickly
* Have backup plans
And honestly?
That confirmation screen feels almost as magical as race weekend itself.
